Occupying an iconic 5-storey warehouse, originally named Coronation House, and built for glass, pottery and china imports, Metro Arts is a comprehensive arts venue in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD that plays host to a range of activities and people all year round.
In the Foyer, the Espresso Bar serves up quality coffees, hot and cold beverages, and a range of sweet treats from Monday to Friday. On selected evenings, the Foyer transitions to the Box Office and a Bar servicing pre-performance and after-office drinks. Every cup sold supports the range of Metro Arts’ programs and activities targeting independent artists.
Metro Arts’ venues, the Gallery, the Sue Benner Theatre, the Basement and the Studio showcase a range of performances and exhibitions, talks, forums, workshops and screenings. Multi-purpose rooms such as the Whitlam, Warehouse and Studio 4.2 are also regular sites for rehearsals, dance classes, training, corporate functions and more.
A wide range of artists, creative practitioners and organisations make Metro Arts their home. Independent artists, creative businesses, Artist Run Initiatives (ARI) and a restaurant and bar converge, making Metro Arts a dynamic hub for Brisbane’s arts and arts-going community.
