Front of House Box Office / Bar Attendants

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as casual Front of House Box Office / Bar Attendants.

Position Objective: As a Casual Front of House Box Office / Bar Attendant, you’ll be the face of Metro Arts, ensuring visitors have an unforgettable experience.

Your role involves a variety of tasks, from selling tickets and merchandise to serving beverages and maintaining a safe environment during events.

Duties include:

  • Providing excellent customer service in the Box Office and Bar
  • Selling tickets and merchandise, assisting with inquiries
  • Serving beverages and food responsibly
  • Maintaining cleanliness and order in the venue
  • Assisting with event set-up and pack-down
  • Supporting the Front of House Supervisor with stock control.

Key Selection Requirements:

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Passion for contemporary arts and commitment to excellent customer service
  • Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel)
  • Flexibility, self-motivation, and ability to work under pressure
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work unsupervised, take initiative, and be a team player
  • Time management and problem-solving skills

Finance Officer

We are seeking a highly collaborative and detail-oriented person passionate about numbers to work within our team as Finance Officer.

The Finance Officer is a key role in the sound financial management of Metro Arts. The role works under the guidance of the Executive Director, and closely with key Metro Arts personnel including the Operations Manager and Senior Producer.

Metro Arts receives organisational funding from the three levels of government – Local, State and Federal, as well as project funding from various government and private foundations that require accurate financial reporting backed by strong processes. The successful candidate will work with venue and programming staff delivering strong financial coordination of key projects, as well as the day to day running of the organisation

Key Selection Criteria

  • Proven experience in Finance and Financial Administration;
  • Knowledge and experience with processing payroll;
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Can work collaboratively with an eye for process improvement;
  • Outstanding organisational skills with the ability to work independently and to deadlines;
  • High level computer skills in Microsoft office applications; and
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with MYOB.

Qualifications and/or Experience

  • Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) or Diploma with work experience equivalent.

Associate Technical Coordinator

We are seeking a highly collaborative and detail-oriented person withstrong technical proficiency and problem-solving skills to work closely with stakeholders, manage production needs, supervise event schedules, and ensure seamless technical execution for our diverse range of events andperformances.

The role has two central components and is tailored toward skill development over thecourse of the employment term. Firstly, the candidate will oversee the technical facilitation ofthe two-week dance festival in May 2024, including the premiere presentation of two newdance works.

Secondly, the candidate will work as the Associate Technical Coordinator for their remainingemployment term, working under the guidance of Metro Arts’ Technical Coordinator andSenior Producer, and closely with the Operations Manager, and Venue and Event Officer tocoordinate the technical facilitation of the Metro Arts program and external hires and eventsto the highest standard.

The role is designed to upskill the candidate in the multiple aspects of technical facilitation inthe creation of performance across genres. The candidate will exit the term of employment asa well-rounded technician and production manager with strong skills in both technical andpeople management.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive professional relationships with new artists andcolleagues in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in the preparation of production schedules.
  • Ability to monitor event budgets and report to senior staff on financial matters.
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility and also to work as a member ofa small team.
  • Excellent computer skills, including proven proficiency with Google Workspace, Exceland Word.
  • A commitment to new contemporary work of excellence

Qualifications and/or Experience

  • Professional or tertiary qualification in Technical Production, or equivalent professionalexperience.
  • Experience in production and event management.
  • Strong detailed knowledge and experience in at least one backstage discipline.
