Spread throughout West Village, Harvest is a unique public artwork centered around clay and collaboration, exploration and reflection.
Waiting to be discovered throughout the West Village Precinct are small ceramic petals made by artist Minqi Gu. These petals refer to Ai Baud Tonar (Harvest Season Time), an ambitious new work by First Nations artist Brian Robinson, which is on display as part of Precision: The Art of Cutting in the Metro Arts galleries at West Village.
Ai Baud Tonar celebrates Brian’s heritage and tradition, with rich cultural and past knowledge of food and seasons, land and sea. Minqi’s work extends these into the lush surroundings of the West Village precinct, inviting the audience to harvest the petals, to find and keep them, and to participate in their evolving story.
This project is presented in conjunction with Precision: The Art of Cutting, curated by Stephanie Lindquist in partnership with curatorial mentoree Minqi Gu.
