MAVA Substation

Launching June 2022, the space and programming has a focus on career pathways and accessible resources for visual artists. Importantly, the program pilots new sustainable models for creative practice and business. Metro Arts believes in working alongside artists to develop models that retain creative integrity, cultivate well-being and prioritise financial sustainability.

Ensuring a strong local independent sector of artists, MAVA Pathfinders will support three Queensland, mid-career visual artists to explore new opportunities, and to purposefully harness their potential to build more sustainable careers.

MAVA Pathfinders (Development program and studio)

• Paid 12-month opportunity for 3 mid-career visual artists
• Provides skills development and professional development
• Includes studio space, materials budget, and workshop access
• Fosters entrepreneurialism

Workshop and Equipment Store

• Fully equipped with a range of materials and equipment
• Housed in the shed and foyer of the MAVA Substation
• A flexible space
• Skills support and technical advice
