A multidisciplinary arts event presented during International Women’s Week.
Wednesday 8 March, 5:30pm – 7:30pm
Featuring a special short performance by dancer Hsin-Ju Ely between 6pm-7pm.
The woman remembers the day the earth shook and the sea came rushing inland…
Presented as part of International Women’s Week, The Woman Remembers is a sophisticated and visually stunning digital work about belonging and loss, addressing our relationship to landscape and our experience of climate emergency.
The work traverses text and physical language across multiple art forms to produce an original, contemporary transcultural cinematic experience for audiences.
As a micro-cinema experience in Metro Art’s Gallery One, The Woman Remembers provides audiences with an intimate experience of this poetic transcultural work about a woman searching for her lost home after a climate-induced disaster.
The Woman Remembers is part of International Women’s Week 2023.

Belloo Creative is a female-led, award-winning independent theatre company that produces original contemporary cross-cultural works. Founded by four women in 2013, Belloo explores new ways of firing the imagination and connecting stories with the human body.
Belloo’s Co-Artistic Directors are Caroline Dunphy (Director and Performer) and Katherine Lyall-Watson (Writer).
Phluxus2 Dance Collective was founded in 2006 to enable opportunities to create and perform new contemporary dance work that is, and for, a time and place. Today, the collective of over 80 artists has a strong vision to create boundary bashing and innovation driven work for performance, touring and events activation.
The collective champions innovation through experimentation, seeking the unknown and advocating for rigorous choreographic practice.
Phluxus2 proudly creates cutting-edge dance work for the stage, events, ceremonies and studios, whilst also delivering exceptional education, community and sector engagement initiatives.
Good Company Arts (GCA) was founded by Te Tumu Toi and artistic director Daniel Belton and creative producer Donnine Harrison. GCA creates live events, exhibitions and installations through the fusion of multiple art forms. Our work has been produced and presented for theatres, art galleries, museums, found spaces, new media and architectural facades, cinemas, planetariums, VR and web platforms.
Project based and working from Aotearoa New Zealand, we are internationally recognised as arts and design innovators, combining contemporary dance, choreography, fine arts, new music, animation, digital cinema and AV technologies.
