This is a space for artists to speak in their own voice – to share the ideas and questions that might grow into new works. Early or evolving, sketchy or structured, this is an invitation to introduce your practice as it is right now, and the work on the horizon.
Metro Arts is building closer relationships with artists working across disciplines and forms. We are moving away from the ‘call for proposals’ model that is time and labour intensive for artists, and operates by fixed deadlines that don’t always align with capacity or funding. This new platform is open year-round, reviewed regularly, and for many artists will be the first step in a conversation about creating new work together with the space, money and curatorial/producing support necessary to bring it to life.
We are drawn to contemporary and experimental thinking. Ideas that are curious, bold or unresolved. Projects that are testing boundaries, following a hunch, or driven by research. Whether you are developing a new piece of text, exploring new choreography, mapping out an exhibition, or dreaming up something entirely new – we would love you to introduce yourself.
This is an ongoing invitation. There’s no deadline – but we suggest bringing us in early in your process. Our team regularly review submissions and, when there’s an alignment, we’ll be in touch to explore how we might work together.
