Ellen May Anderson examines our relationship to bodily enhancement, moving toward new models of the ‘ideal’ human body.
Ellen May has a special interest in the construction and circulation of images and the relationship between the physical art object and digital visual languages She sources reference materials from open-source image banks and other sites to repurpose or ‘re-stabilise’ them.
Through precise use of the crop, Ellan May constructs virtual realities and ultimately investigates painting as a self-reflexive medium despite the influences of the internet. In reproducing these images, Ellen salvages then from the excesses of digital circulation so they can exist in a more controlled and considered environment.
