Tay Haggarty’s practice centres processes of queer abstraction, materialities of grit and polish, and ambiguity as productive openness, through intersections with surveillance culture and queer time.
Over the next 12 months, Tay will be working closely on three projects that span sculpture, performance and video. Previously, Tay has had a material focus on stainless steel, acrylic mirror, vinyl and found objects. The residency period will continue the exploration of these materials while expanding a set of experiments with translucent matter, such as mist, glass and eco resin, into their making process.
Tay said, “Throughout the residency I am keen to cement collaboration as a key component within my practice, in particular I’m excited to work with local trans identifying creatives and thinkers.”
