the churchie emerging art prize (‘the churchie’) is one of Australia’s most diverse art prizes for early-career contemporary artists. Established in 1987, it is one of Australia’s longest-running prizes for emerging artists and is dedicated to promoting innovation and excellence encompassing all subjects and a range of media.
Now in its 39th year, the prize continues its partnership with Metro Arts for a third consecutive year. ‘the churchie’ provides an exceptional platform for career opportunities, education, and meaningful engagement with the broader arts community.
Each year, emerging artists from across the country are selected for ‘the churchie’ Finalists’ Exhibition, which showcases a diverse range of innovative and contemporary artworks. This exhibition has played a significant role in launching the careers of some of Australia’s renowned artists.
