Kitchen Studio is a place where sculpture, food and ideas are interchangeable and digestible. The rules of hospitality will be broken, and nourishment redefined.
During the day, Kitchen Studio opens its doors to those who are curious to explore the sculptural dining room. And when the sun sets, the exhibition plays host to a provocative sensory journey for an intimate group of guests.
Partaking in Kitchen Studio is an invitation to play within the realm of gastronomy as you make your way through a series of conceptually driven courses.
Artist Elizabeth Willing’s large-scale installation encourages guests to form new perspectives on the modern diet by exploring, engaging, and experiencing edible materials.

This is my most ambitious creative project to date, and I feel confident it will allow me to open up exciting new facets in my work, and in the space of food design and experimental eating.” – Elizabeth WillingElizabeth Willing is a Brisbane based visual artist whose works are performative and often participatory explorations of food and hosting. Primarily working in sculpture, installation, and performance, Elizabeth’s work additionally takes the form of performance meals.
Elizabeth has undertaken professional development mentorships in New York with Janine Antoni (2011), with the Experimental Food Society in London (2012) and then with Thomas Rentmeister in Berlin (2014). In 2019 she completed a Masters of Fine Art at Queensland University of Technology.
Elizabeth has undertaken residencies at the Kunstlerhaus Bethanien (2014), Helsinki International Art Program HIAP (2015), New England Regional Art Museum Armidale (2018), The Australian Wine Research Institute in Adelaide (2019), Museum of Brisbane (2020), Urban Art Projects (2022) and Metro Arts (2023).
Exhibitions of Elizabeth’s work have been held in Australia and overseas at The Museum of Contemporary Art Sydney, Kunstlerhaus Bethanien Berlin, Trapholt Museum of Art and Design Denmark, Tinguely Museum Basel, Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art Brisbane, Musee Beaux Arts Angers France, and Perth Institute of Contemporary Art.
Elizabeth is represented by Tolarno Galleries Melbourne.
Speculative Architecture is a multi-disciplinary studio practice, led by Dirk Yates, that specialises in the design and delivery of public buildings and integrated artworks. We have developed projects with institutional organisations including the Queensland Government (PQC Level 3), Brisbane City Council, Museum of Brisbane, State Library of Queensland, Diocese of Toowoomba Catholic Schools Offi ce, Institute of Modern Art, and Home of the Arts Gold Coast.
Anna Whitaker is a multi award–winning Meanjin/Brisbane based sound designer and composer with a palate for experimental, acousmatic works and surround sound composition.
She graduated from Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music Technology, and since has designed and composed for productions including MONA FOMA, Sydney Dance Company, Australasian Dance Company, The Farm, tasdance, Stompin’, Aha Ensemble, La Boite Theatre Company, Brisbane Festival, Bleach* Festival, HOTA Gold Coast, Festival 2018, Vulcana Circus and Playlab.
Her vast background in classical music and technology–based sound art result in musical concoctions from the traditional and contemporary worlds. Anna received the 2020/2021 and 2019 Matilda Award for Best Sound Design for her work on Michael Smith’s ‘Cowboy’ and The Farm’s ‘Throttle’ respectively.
Anna’s unique voice is also evident in her installation works which have exhibited at Bleach* Festival, HOTA, Metro Arts and QPAC Museum. Anna has a strong interest in composition for contemporary dance, and making and collaborating with regional artists and communities.
Chris has been a practicing artist since the mid-1990’s and holds a Doctor of Philosophy, Masters and Bachelor Degree in Fine Arts.
His works have been exhibited in Russia, Germany, Italy, Bulgaria, the USA and throughout Australia. As a practitioner interested in the complexities of studio production his diverse background in contemporary art draws from machinima, interactive game mods, site-specific sculpture, sound art, AI, performance, sculpture and painting.
Chris is a graduate of CalArts and Queensland University of Technology.
Maisie Crosdale (she/her) is a Meanjin based Theatre-Maker, Producer, Facilitator and Performer. Maisie has a background in classical ballet and contemporary dance, and is exploring the synergy between movement and storytelling —namely through Physical Theatre and Visual Theatre. Maisie has been training with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre Company since 2020, and in 2024 stepped in as Company Producer.
Maisie also has a particular interest in theatre and arts for young people, working as a Facilitator with Backbone Youth Arts – additionally as a Research Assistant at QUT with Dr David Megarrity. Independently, Maisie is the Curator and Producer of Object Collective; sustainable Puppetry and Object Theatre for young people.
Most recently Maisie has moved into producing as Studio1’s Producer. Studio1 is a micro-arts Organisation and is a dance and physical theatre hub for Brisbane artists. Maisie’s role is in delivering the inaugural Workroom Programme.
Ebony Webb is a multidisciplinary artist working both on and off the stage in Meanjin/Brisbane. When not performing, Ebony works as a writer, director/choreographer and in production and costume design. Ebony majored in Acting at the Aboriginal Centre of the Performing Arts and has also trained at The Actors Workshop and with Zen Zen Zo’s Actor’s Dojo. Since finishing her tertiary studies in 2017, Ebony has been working in the independent sector, as an actor and creator with companies such as La Boite Theatre Company, Zen Zen Zo, The Dead Puppet Society, Magnetic North Theatre Company and immersive, interactive companies Counterpilot, Folly Games and Broad Encounters. Having created and performed works in festivals, including MELT, Splendour in the Grass and Woodford Folk Festival, in venues big and small, and sometimes in no venue at all, Ebony is a versatile artist with a passion for boundary breaking work that challenges the actors and the audience alike.
Maxi Mossman is a Brisbane-based emerging theatre maker with a focus in holistic, sensory theatre design and contemporary performance curation. While completing her Bachelor of Creative Industries (Drama), Maxi is also company member, Schools’ Program and Marketing Coordinator of physical theatre company, Zen Zen Zo – discovering a deeper dedication for intrinsic and multifaceted storytelling, engaging with a high energy impulse towards creating art. She entered the independent theatre scene with her award-winning directorial debut, A Drop Too Many (2023) and strives to create art that combines different facets of the Creative Industries and connects to community. Maxi has had the privilege of working with a variety of creatives such as: Nicole Reilly, Dr Lynne Bradley, Tony Brumpton, Shari Indriani, Collective Circus, Jag Popham and many more. Maxi’s diverse skillset and passions in stage management, visual art, stage design and costume design cultivates theatrical worlds which aim to swallow audiences whole.
Micah Rustichelli is an interdisciplinary artist and performer working on Jagera and Turrbal land, operating across modes of circus, club-kid, dance, painting and sculpture. Micah has presented their work within party and cabaret spaces such as Nachtlicker (Dark Mofo), cLUB bENT bACK uP (Liveworks Festival), Shoosh Yo Bush Cabaret (Woodford Folk Festival), Shandy and Bowerytopia (Brisbane Festival). Recent solo projects include Vengeance and Mercy at Wreckers Artspace, Demon Rhythm: Phase One at Brunswick Street Gallery for Midsumma Festival and A Body Which Draws Itself as part of Metro Arts’ 2024 One Night Stand program. In 2023 they won the inaugural Altimate Showdown, a nightlight performance art competition and Artist of the Year at the 62nd Annual Queens Ball, this year they received a spot in the Queer Development Program with Performance Space where they developed a new project, Boy Horror.
