REWIRING for 2026

Metro Arts is getting ready for its next chapter.

Across these first months of 2026, we’re doing some important work behind the scenes to make sure Metro Arts can continue bringing bold, exciting and surprising art to Brisbane for many years to come. We’re calling this process ‘REWIRING’ – a way of strengthening the systems that support artists, audiences and ideas.

This process is about us upgrading how things work so they work better. Over the years, Metro Arts has grown and changed, and the world around it has changed too. We’re building new partnerships, rethinking how we present art, how we use our spaces, and how we support artists to make ambitious work.

Along the way, we are hosting an array of workshops, pop-up events, artist residencies and creative experiments – read on below for our first wave. We’re also hosting moments for our creative community to gather in a ‘townhall’ setting to give you a glimpse of what’s coming up, hear your thoughts and ideas, and build up for a refreshed program of exhibitions and co-productions launching later in the year.

Driving this process is our commitment to artists and audiences. Metro Arts remains a place for discovery, experimentation and connection. The reset simply ensures we can keep doing that sustainably and with renewed energy.

Stay tuned on our social media and e-news to find out all about our events, new approaches and artist support through the first half of 2026, and watch as we launch a wave of new projects, collaborations and bold new art – we’re excited about what’s ahead and look forward to keeping you in the loop about how we’re growing, changing, and rewiring for the future.
