Metro Arts Presents

By Sophie Banister and Thien Pham

Your favourite local variety night Brisbaret is back for another month – this time with a special, theatrical one-night-only glow up!

Created and hosted by musical comedians Sophie and Thien, Brisbaret is a curated variety night bringing you a smorgasbord of local talent.

From singer-songwriters to stand up comedians, dance, drag, sketch comedy and burlesque, you will be bestowed with the finest short instalments of art, frivolity and entertainment by the best bris-lebrities in town (like celebrities, but better).

Sophie and Thien expertly weave together the silly, the topical, and the ridiculous with tunes and interactive games to keep you smiling between acts. Join us as Brisbaret trades the pub for the theatre in this spectacular, (subtropical) Winter Wonderland Extravaganza.

Stay tuned for the release of the line-up!

Some notable productions with the choir include Boombox at Adelaide Fringe Festival, Our Carnal Hearts at Brisbane Festival, Everyday Requiem with Expressions Dance Company, and various QSO concerts. Thien Pham is a Brisbane based performer, musical comedian, and piano accompanist. He has been fortunate enough to lead a varied musical career from writing and performing at Adelaide Fringe and Brisbane Comedy Festival (All Day Breakfast), accompanying for Melbourne Fringe Festival (Hi, Can I Help You?), Queensland Cabaret Festival (This Could Be You!) and performing musical comedy regularly around the Brisbane comedy scene. He has also produced, written, and performed his own cabaret show for Anywhere Festival (I’ll Count You In) as well as being part of the ensemble for Act React in 2021 (The Importance of Being Wasted). Currently, he is co-hosting and performing at Brisbaret, a monthly variety night that provides a platform for new and established local artists to perform. When he is not performing on stage, he is also contributing to the music education scene through mentoring and school choirs.
