About
SANDPIT is a cross art-form, experimental series of creative-play sessions. It holds space for artists to hone their tools in a condensed creative process, encouraging them to lean into pressure and optimised decision-making. Artists choose how they want to engage, signing up either as a dancer/movement artist, or choreographer/creator.
Jag Popham our initial SANDPIT Curator shares his vision and values for this process-driven platform:
“At the core of the project is a philosophy of collaboration, where all ideas are welcomed and nurtured to grow collectively. Participants are encouraged to approach creation as a sacred act, with a commitment to serving the work rather than their own egos.
Each iteration of Sandpit revolves around a curated theme, serving as a prompt to spark the imaginations of participating artists. But while the themes may guide the artists, there are no limitations or expectations as to where their curiosity may take them. "
Suitable for: - Artist of any career stage
- Artists with a performative practice
- Artists with an experimental practice
- Artists open to learning and sharing
