By Josh Daveta & The Sequins

Presented by Queensland Cabaret Festival and Metro Arts

Today’s pop classics, reimagined as jazz standards.

You might know them from Oscar Theatre Co’s Boy&Girl and previous solo shows Teenage Dreams, now cabaret mogul Josh Daveta and their band The Sequins will take the New Benner stage for one night only with their show My Funny Valentine.

Featuring the music of Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and more, audiences will be in for a vintage experience through the lens of the pop music world for 65 minutes!

Josh is a POC & Queer singer/songwriter, actor, musician, writer, producer and cabaret artist. They were a top 75 Australian Idol contestant and has worked with many Australian Talents such as Nancye Hayes, Peter Cousens, Marina Prior, Paulini & Jessica Mauboy as well as rubbing shoulders with the likes of Shoshana Bean, Natalie Weiss & super star Katy Perry (the name dropping is foul, we get it). Over the past seven years they have led the way with cabaret, touring with their critically acclaimed shows Teenage Dreams, My Prerogative and their brand defining return season show Like Mariah. They were also apart of Electric Moon’s 15th Anniversary Hedwig & The Angry Inch concert and In The Warm Room: Songs of Kate Bush and recurring artist for Brisbane Pride. Their staple involvement as festival host for Brisbane Festival’s Arcadia and in Brisbane’s phenom, Oscar Production Company’s boy&girl, are career badges stapled into their brand of being one of the city’s finest.

With “producer” also in their zeitgeist of titles, they have created the wildly successful event Broadway In The Dock and their Christmas cabarets Daveta Watch Out & O Night Divine.

Josh’s acting credits include LEGALLY BLONDE (Emmett), LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS (Audrey II), SPELLING BEE (Mitch Mahoney), HAIR (Hud) & SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD (Man 1).

Their main goal in life is to work constantly enough to buy Starbucks Gingerbread frappucinos at any time of the day.
