In 2019, the NSW Parliament reopened the NSW Parliamentary Inquiry into Gay and Transgender hate crimes between 1970 and 2010 to delive into the state's history of violence and persecution against LGBTQI Australians.
In this landmark production, Shane Anthony and his ensemble draw on the words of the victims' family members, witnesses, historians, police officers, journalists and researchers, to create a searing and unapologetic look at how cultural prejudice and bias have contributed to violence against gay and transgender people in Australia.
Community Event
Following the Matinee performance on Saturday 16 July, Metro Arts and Shane Anthony wish to offer a space for the LGBTQI+ community to come together and debrief about the work and topics covered. Please join us after the performance for a discussion with community leaders. Facilitated by creator and director Shane Anthony, the panel includes Dr Wendell Rosevaearr from Stonewall Medical Centre, and Jane Hopkins from PFLAG+.
FREE for those attending the matinee performance.The Panelists: Dr Wendell Rosevear, O.A.M. MB BS. Dip.RACOG. FRACGP. J.P.(Qual.), Director of Stonewall Medical Centre, specialising in alcohol and drug recovery, HIV/AIDS, rape and sexual abuse recovery, General Practice, LGBTI health, counselling and prisoner health.
Jane Hopkins, PFLAG+ national spokesperson and Brisbane Committee President, and passionate advocate for the rights of LGBTQ+ Australian youth.

Our Blood Runs in the Street is recommended for drama and english students, from Grade 10 to Tertiary. Comprehensive Education Notes have been written by Rhumer Diball, and are available for school/tertiary booking groups.
