BAM workshop with Hilary Beaton  Biz Arts MAkers workshop

Metro Arts' business development program, Biz Arts MAkers, was launched in 2003 to support the development of artists’ practices as sustainable businesses.

The first of its kind in Australia, the program provides creative practitioners with the skills to work towards sustainability by analysing their practices and structuring them for success.

Biz Arts MAkers benefits participants by developing their practices in a community of like-minded people working to establish businesses in the same industry with similar challenges and hurdles. This collaborative environment contributes to fast-tracking the business development process.

Business skilling workshops, mentoring, needs-based coaching, strategic planning and administrative support are delivered by Metro Arts, with industry consultants from across the creative industries imparting their knowledge to the program participants.

Participants have access to the Biz Arts MAkers facility that contains an open-plan office area, workstations, communal meeting spaces and individual offices within the heart of the Metro Arts building on Level 1.

Biz Arts MAkers also organises regular forums on a range of topics relevant to the arts industry, business, government and community, to encourage discourse about the value of culture in our society and the sustainability of artists and the Arts.
