NBC CAPITAL - METRO ARTS SCHOLARSHIP

Established in 2006, the NBC Capital - Metro Arts Scholarship was aimed towards early career visual artists and provided a selected artist: a Metro Arts studio for one year, business development coaching, a three week exhibition in the Metro Arts Galleries, writing, design and printing of an exhibition invitation and catalogue, an invitation only event to introduce the artist and their work to a corporate audience, an open invitation event targeted to the artist's peers and general public,marketing and publicity support for the exhibition and $1000 contribution to art materials.

 

The NBC Capital - Metro Arts Scholarhip has been awarded to Gemma Smith (2206), Kirsty Bruce (2007) and Luisa Rossitto (2008).

LUISA ROSSITTO

NBC Capital - Metro Arts Scholarship (2008)

 

Luisa graduated from the Queensland College of Art in 2002, where she received the Langer Memorial Prize for Painting and the Fine Arts Bachelors Medal. Lusia has since exhibited at the Institute of Modern Art in the Fresh Cuts exhibition and Soapbox Galleries. Luisa exhibited in a number of other exhibitions in 2008 at Linden Contemporary Arts, Milani Gallery and Metro Arts.

 

The NBC Capital - Metro Arts Scholarship (2008) culminating exhibition was be held in the Metro Arts Galleries 19 November - 6 December.

KIRSTY BRUCE

NBC Capital - Metro Arts Scholarship (2007)

 

In 2006, Kirsty Bruce completed her Bachelor of Fine Art (Visual Art) at Queensland University of Technology and presented two solo exhibitions, one at the Ryan Renshaw Gallery in Brisbane and the other at the Anna Bibby Gallery in Auckland, New Zealand. Kirsty was also part of the Fresh Cut exhibition at the Institute of Modern Art in Brisbane.

NBC Capital-Metro Arts Scholarship (2006)

 

Gemma Smith commenced the one-year NBC Capital - Metro Arts Scholarship in October 2005.


After completing a Bachelor of Visual Arts(Hons) at the Queensland University of Technology (2004) and a Bachelor of Visual Arts (painting) at Sydney College of the Arts (1999), she studied colour theory at Parson School of Design in New York (2005). Gemma has participated in visual arts in Australia on a number of levels. Gemma has  has held positions in Education at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney, in Cultural Development at the Gold Coast City Council, and in a commercial art gallery.
