Metro Arts delivers professional development for artists to achieve sustainable creative practice.

This is delivered through a unique combination of artistic programs, business skilling and facilities, and through an open platform approach to programming.

For more than 30 years, Metro Arts has prominently supported artists and is recognised as Brisbane’s centre for independent practice.

Metro Arts' annual Artistic Program invests in early-career and established artists through the following programs:

- Independents Program (performing arts)

- Creative Development Festival (performing arts)

- Company in Residence (performing arts)

- Galleries Program (visual arts)

                         - Artist in Residence (visual arts)

The Independents - the Restaged Histories project- Artist-Run Initiative (visual arts)

- NBC Capital - Metro Arts Scholarship artist (visual arts, annual)

Business skilling is provided by Metro Arts' business development program, Biz Arts MAkers, to support the development of creative practices as sustainable businesses.

The Facilities Program provides artists, arts organisations and creative businesses with affordable tenancies in Metro Arts’ heritage-listed building in the centre of the city. Venues for hire include galleries, performance, rehearsal and meeting spaces.

Metro Arts’ holistic framework of professional development promotes innovation, artistic diversity and economic viability.
